REQUIRED READING LIST:
Liber IV, Liber ABA (Part II)
Straightforward and informative introduction of the
tools employed in Ritual Magick. {Read}
Liber IV, Liber ABA (Part III)
Also called Magick in Theory and
Practice, being a comprehensive work of Qabalah,
formula, and ritual. {Read and study – specifically the
introduction and chapters 0–21}
Liber VII, Liber Liberi Vel Lapis Lazuli, Adumbratio
Kabbalæ Ægypiorum
The seven chapters are referred to the seven planets
in the following order: Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Sol,
Mercury, Luna and Venus. The reading of this Holy Book
inspires conscious awakening. {Read, study and perfectly
memorize one chapter}
Liber CCXX, Liber AL Vel Legis, The Book of the Law
Coming to an understanding of the Law of Thelema in
the previous grade, the Neophyte builds the four–fold
method of Will, this aligning itself to the Powers of
the Sphinx. {Read and study}.
Liber CD, Liber Tau Vel Kabbalæ Trium Literarum
Qabalistic Holy Book dividing the Hebrew Alphabet
into seven triads, each forming a trinity of sympathetic
ideas. {Read and study}
Liber DCCCXI, Energized Enthusiasm
Of particular help in attaining control of the Body
of Light, intuition and Hathayoga. {Study}.
The Goetia
The Neophyte studies the various preparations
detailed for the operations of Ceremonial Magick. {Study
only the methods. Practical operations are recommended
to the Philosophus}.
Additionally, two novels by
Aleister Crowley are strongly recommended: Diary
of a Drug Fiend and Moonchild.
It is important for the
Neophyte, after the accomplishment of Liber Pyramidos,
to delve into areas of study beyond the scope of any
reading list. Subjects that inspire earnest interest,
even if they appear not to have any immediate magical
application, should be pursued. This is a lesson well
taught at the end of the novel Diary of
a Drug Fiend.
The
Neophyte, when the studies of the grade are properly
applied, will radically change perception and begin
breathing the life of initiation, incorporating Magick
into every event of every day; and this, as a natural
result of the work. Inspiring insight into this ‘perception
transformed into the moment–by–moment life of initiation’
can be seen in the characters portrayed in the novel Moonchild.
