PRACTICUS GRADE: TAROT TOOLS

TEMPLE: Every card of the Thoth Tarot Deck can be spread out and arranged in an empty room to fashion a complete Temple. A balanced arrangement for general operations is as follows:

East Wall: Ace – Ten (Swords) stretching the length of the wall from left to right.

South Wall: Ace – Ten (Wands) stretching the length of the wall from left to right.

West Wall: Ace – Ten (Cups) stretching the length of the wall from left to right.

North Wall: Ace – Ten (Disks) stretching the length of the wall from left to right.

Unicursal Circle is arranged  – the elemental Knight of each suit filling the space of the four directions, followed by the Queen, Prince, and Princess forming a line to the element and ending before and between the five and six.

The red and black Hexagram card is placed just outside the circle in the northeast and the blank white card is placed opposite in the southwest.

Understanding the arrangement for general operations allows the rearrangement of the cards to more specific operations.

CIRCLES: The Unicursal Circle previously discussed is a harmonious balance between the declaration of the work (the formula created in the arrangement) and the sealed protective boundary. However, it represents only one type of circle that may be created, as many other circles may be created for specific operations.

A Zelator of the Invisible House Society planned an operation that required the elemental influence of Fire, without the direct manifestation of an elemental Salamander. Included in the extensive preparations, a circle was created using the fourteen cards of the Wands suit.

A Practicus of the Invisible House Society arranged two overlapping circles using Wands and Cups, surrounded by a square of the twenty-two trumps of the Major Arcana, for a series of operations for the 23rd path.

Let any other Circle comprised of any of the cards be created and explained, and this to the benefit of the Practicus in the development of their logical faculties and symmetrical reasoning.

SQUARES: Magical Squares can be formed for a great number of different purposes, and the Numerical Squares previously detailed provide symmetrical guidelines.

Let the Practicus create the following Squares, entering the finished layout in their record, complete with an explanation of the logic in the placing of the cards in relation to each other across the Square:
a. Using the twenty-two cards of the Major Arcana to create a Square suitable to house the Lamp. Symbolically construct the Lamp in the center of the Square using eight cards from the Minor Arcana (it is left to the Practicus to formulate an adequate solution).

b. Using the ACE – TEN of any one suit to create a Square suitable to the charging of an Elemental Weapon.

c. Using the ACE – TEN of any one suit to create a Square suitable to the charging of a Talisman of Chaos.

d. Using the ACE – TEN of any one suit to create a Square suitable to the charging of a Talisman of balance.
Let any other Square comprised of any of the cards be created and explained, and this to the benefit of the Practicus in the development of their logical facilities and symmetrical reasoning.

TRIANGLES: Constructing Triangles to manifest or evoke targeted energies or entities to aid in completion of a desired result. A Circle must first be created around any forthcoming Triangle using the twenty-two Major Arcana.

Let the Practicus create the following Triangles, entering the finished layout in their record, complete with an explanation of the logic in the placing of the cards in relation to each other:
a. Using every card in the Thoth Tarot deck, create a Triangle suitable to the summoning of the Universe.

b. Using the ACE – TEN of all four suits to create a Triangle suitable to the summoning of the four Elemental kings.

c. Using the ACE – TEN of any one suit to create a Triangle suitable to the summoning of an Elemental.

d. Using all fourteen cards of any one suit to create a Triangle suitable to summon the energies necessary to Elementally stain an object.
Let any other Triangle comprised of any of the cards be created and explained, and this to the benefit of the Practicus in the development of their logical facilities and symmetrical reasoning.

Let the Practicus consider, for any ritual or meditative operations planned, to include a suitable arrangement of the cards, and that this should include the construction of more than one shape combined (i.e. circle within a triangle, square within a circle, etc).
